
Dairy Farm Manager
Location:
The Clonfert Dairy farm is set in the centre of the country. The farm is located 8 – 10 miles from Birr / Ballinasloe / Portumna & 3-4 miles from Banagher & Eyrecourt
Job Description:
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Dairy Farm Manager with a minimum of 2 years experience in a grass based system to take on the responsibility for managing a 220 crossbred dairy herd.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the farm, which includes milking, grassland management and animal husbandry on this well organised simple compact dairy unit. All young stock will be contract reared & all machinery work will be contracted out. The candidate must be able to work with autonomy to problem solve & manage the herd health of the farm to high standard.
We would encourage the individual to get involved in a discussion group & continue to avail of any courses required to further develop their knowledge to achieve their long term ambitions.
The Farm:
The farm is Adjusted MP 68 HA & 25 HA outblock with a 20 unit parlour, that was converted from a Greenfield site in 2014 & the owners were at the forefront of setting up one of the first Irish Share Farm arrangements with Teagasc. We are part of the mono-culture grassland trials with all paddocks now stitched in with clover.
The Dairy Herd is a high EBI cross bred herd with excellent Herd Fertility performance, producing 490kg MS

Remuneration: € 35 k to € 50 K – depending on years experience
There will be an excellent remuneration package based on experience with a budget provided for off farm accommodation & relief labour.
The Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, honest person with a can do attitude that has excellent communication skills and is fully competent in taking on the responsibility for this dairy unit, as the farm owner is working off-farm.
· Responsible for driving the daily performance of the farm to ensure that production targets and quality parameters are met.
· Excellent Stockman ship
· Excellent Grassland Management
· Ability to work on own initiative.
· Ensure adequate Staffing Levels
